The 2001 Goldenstates will be remembered as the event where a five second pass for a Top Doorslammer began to look likely. Peter Kapiris had tested with good form during the week and in qualifying ran a 6.19, only just off Australia’s quickest Top Doorslammer run of 6.17, which had been recorded by Robin Judd at the 2000 Winternationals in Queensland. But eliminations saw Kapiris step things up with a 6.14 in the first round and an incredible 6.07 in the semi finals. The team stepped it up big time for the final round but a big wheelstand saw Kapiris have to pedal and give up the win to Brett Stevens.

We’d love to have some results from this event so if anyone has the old Dragster Australia meeting report please let me know.
