The Race Tech Tubing / Motorsport News Best Engineered Vehicle at the 27th Marlows Westernationals, held at Perth’s Ravenswood Raceway was won by Geoff Chaisty.

Chaisty won the prestigious award with his beautiful G/Gas Commodore which was built by Mike Reily Race Cars in Queensland and finished by the Chaisty team in Perth. The car also still holds the national G/Gas Record at 8.93 seconds, which was set at Ravenswood in November 1997.

“I am thrilled to win this award,” said Chaisty. “We are now looking forward to heading east to the 98 TAC Nationals in Melbourne and we also look forward to the announcement of the Race Car Of The Year presentation.”

The Race Tech / Motorsport News Best Engineered vehicle is presented at each of the Australian Drag Racing Series rounds. As a result of the win Chaisty’s vehicle went into the running for the Race Tech / Motorsport News ‘Race Car Of The Year Award’, to be presented at the end of the season.

Five national records were reset during the 27th Annaul Marlows Westernationals at Perth’s Ravenswood raceway this past weekend. The event was a round of the Australian Drag Racing Series and one of only two annual opportunities the west coast competitors have to set records on their home soil. The heat of battle saw new standards being set as follows:
